How Openhand works
Openhand is a trust layer for local giving. We don't process payments — instead, we manually verify every cause and its payout details so you can give directly with confidence.
A fundraiser submits a cause
Anyone can register as a fundraiser and create a cause: a title, story, images, a funding goal, and how they'd like to receive donations (their bank transfer details).
Our team verifies it
Before a cause appears publicly, an admin reviews the story and the payout details. Payout details are stored encrypted and are only revealed publicly once verified. We approve genuine causes and reject anything incomplete or suspicious — with a reason.
Donors give directly
Once approved, the cause goes live with a “Verified” badge. Donors see the verified payout details and give directly to the fundraiser. Openhand never touches the money, so there are no platform fees on your donation.
Transparency & accountability
Fundraisers post updates, donors can pledge and comment, and anyone can report a concern. Our team can suspend causes that breach our guidelines.
Why no payment processing?
Handling card payments requires heavy regulatory compliance. By connecting donors directly with verified fundraisers, Openhand stays lightweight, fee-free, and focused on what matters: trust. (A payment gateway can be added later without changing how verification works.)
